For my independent study I will be analysing the popular TV drama Footballers Wives. I will be focusing on the main issue of how women are represented in Football and how they have been portrayed to the audience. I watch quite a lot of TV, mainly soaps and TV dramas such as Footballers Wives, and this would help me when im analysing wider contexts mentioned in the show.
Footballers wives is a fictional TV drama based around a football club / team Earls Park, however the show has nothing to do with the game of football itself. Its actually based around the women involved with the game, such as the footballers wives and girlfriends. The TV show is full of drama and very non-football related, with the main focus on the more well off women involved and how they live there lives being rich and famous.

The women in Footballers Wives are seen as very high class and glam, and are often involved with a footballer. I will be analysing the ways in which the women in Footballers Wives are portrayed in the TV show and how the connection between them and footballers is a contribution to there success and also sometimes greed.
Throughout my independent study I will also be analysing the wider contexts brought up in the programme outside of football such as Hooliganism, Drugs, Alchohol and Sex.
Footballers Wives covers a lot of wider contexts involved outside of football, the main issue with the program being sex and drugs. I will analyse the wider contexts and how they are represented and also make a comparison with the women in contempary society.

This is a good start, Chloe. To develop your ideas further you need to select 1-3 episodes that you intend to focus on in detail. (I have see FW on DVD in most of the sales in town, so you should be able to pick it up fairly cheaply, if you don't have it already). Remember that you have to look at 'recent' episodes so you will need to check when it was broadcast.

Hello my lovely... I think you should add more inforation about the other key concepts as you can't right a whole 3000 word essay on just representation. Right how the representation would appeal to the audience maybe.
