RAVE CULTURE - Hacienda Club to Mercury Music Prize

I will be looking at the changing representation of raver's and the rave culture, in which a mix of drugs, dance and music are common.

I will be looking at:

24 Party People
51st State
Skins
Klaxons/Hadouken/Gallows music videos
Happy Mondays & New Order

This will form the basis for my presentation on the change from the rave culture of the late 80's to the Nu Rave culture of 2006 onwards.

This is an intersting and challenging area - you just need to take care that it gives you enough scope to cover Wider Contexts - consider the origins of the rave scene and how drug use/abuse has been presented over the years. (Texts that you could look at include: Reefer Madness, Trainspotting, Blue Juice and Grange Hill - Just Say No!) There is a list of films showing drug use at Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_drug_films
